Neofolk is a mix between industrial and folk music. A bit like a modern version of Bob Dylan. Content wise the industrial music has always been more engaged with the problems of the Eighties and early Nineties, and this reflected in the content of neofolk. Mostly left-wing bands with a message, but this message is oftentimes deliberately vague by right-wing symbolism. Known anti fascist musicians that use fascist symbols to convey their message. I know, weird.
Luxembourg singer Jérôme Reuter started with his project Rome in 2005. This EP contains songs from his seventh studio album, a three part album about the beauty of anarchy. I have seen Rome a couple of times at the same festival as where I bought the record, and I’m pretty sure I bought it one of his concerts.
