I don’t have the outside sleeve for this album, but maybe it didn’t even have one. This is either a promo record or a test version. It has a handwritten number on the label, and the title pencil-written on the inner sleeve. So when I put it on, I didn’t really expect Christmas sounds coming through the speakers. It is weird to listen to this music off-season.
The plant this was pressed at is Pallas in Germany. From what I can find this is the only record plant that was still running during the time nobody was buying vinyl anymore. To the few young people in my audience that care to read this: yes, there was that time. The plant has been running continuously since 1948, and with good quality pressings. There are different versions of this album, but all of them come from CBS. They were published under the same catalogue number, so was CBS using Pallas to press its records in Europe?
