If you leave

It was way too hot for a festival that year. It must have been 2011 when I was at the Lowlands festival. It was so hot that visitors couldn’t cross the open field without melting. They would leave one side of the field but never arrive at the other, because they had melted and evaporated on the way. The small bit of shadow that was formed by a single lighting pole was followed eagerly by a row of people, hiding in its welcome coolness. We spent the day drinking caipirinhas. You might think: not a good thing, all that alcohol in such weather. But it come with icecubes, and those were the lifesaver we needed.

The Sunday morning of that weekend, when it was still a bit cooler, we heard this band: Daughter. We were lying in the grass not wanting to move a muscle. The music became the soundtrack of an overheated festival. I found that memory two years later in the record store, and it didn’t take ma long to think about buying it.
