With volume four we skip part 5 of this series of suites, the most famous of all. You can hear it in the Spotify link, and you should try it. The fourth volume of the record series presents us with the last two of the suites, parts 8 and 9.
They were composed in the last years of the war. For a while the Germanic music of Bach was not en vogue when Brazil was at war with Germany. Yet the last suite seems to be the culmination of Villa-Lobos attempt to mix Bach with Brazilian songs and dances: it is a perfect amalgam.
