May I present you Lulubelle III. Hipgnosis Art director Storm Thorgerson just went out in the field and took a picture of the first cow he saw. It happened to be this charming lady. Thorgerson admitted he was inspired by the cow wallpaper Andy Warhol created four years earlier. The band wanted something out of the ordinary imagery that was common for rock bands in those days. Will this cow do?
This is Pink Floyd’s fifth studio album is not their easiest. In fact it is considered the most impenetrable. Side one is filled with just one song, performed with the John Alldis Choir and a small orchestra. The second half of the albums has songs by each of the band members.
The name of the album and the title track comes from the headline of a news article in the Evening Standard of 16 July 1970: Atom heart mother named. The article was about a woman that got a pacemaker powered by plutonium.
