When corona hit the country, all venues were closed and concerts were cancelled. I like music, so I always have tickets for concerts way in advance. I think I had five or six when this happened, and one of them was a concert by the Broken Brass Ensemble. This is them, after they lost the Ensemble in their name.
I kept my tickets, but it must have been almost two years before the concert was actually happening. It kept on being postponed because of the measures taken during the pandemic. So when the concert finally did happen it felt like a release. It was worth the wait.
After first seeing them in my record store, I expected traditional New Orleans jazz. They had grown though, and what I heard was more funky, using more electronics. It was still very exciting though.
