The debut album of Creedence Clearwater Revival was made in May 1968, a short while after they changed the name of the band from The Golliwogs. It contains three covers and five original songs, some of which were already successful songs under the previous name.

The song Susie Q established the way the band was working. After the recordings were made with the band, singer John Fogerty took over the production in the studio, throwing the rest of the band out. The problem was they were making all these comments like, “Well, that won’t work. This won’t work.” You know, they were having a great time laughing…And that was the very last time I ever allowed them to be around when I mixed a record…
