What was to become Creedence was founded in 1959 under a different name. Somehow it feels like the band had trouble finding a good name, and the eventual one that stuck is also a bit strange: Creedence comes from the name of a friend, mixed with the word creed, a commercial for a company selling clear water, and finally the commitment of its members.

CCR was a serious band, formed around the brothers Tom and John Foggerty. They didn’t go with the flow of the time by not doing drugs. They made a vow never to start with it, saying the music shall be their drug. The decision had its influence on the music as well. Instead of long jams that seemed to go nowhere, Creedence music was short and to the point. And catchy, I might add.

Green river is the third studio album of the band, and it came out in 1969. It contains two of the biggest hits: Green river and Bad moon rising.
