Live from Scotland vol 2

Discogs

This the third record of the series of four Live from Scotland recordings that I have. All of them are really good, and offer the best the old folkers have to offer. Lots of dad humor in and between the lyrics. I suppose that made the original BBC episodes that started the band so popular.

From Sunday Driver:

Well I've been a Sunday driver noo for many's a happy year
And I've never had my Morris Minor oot o' second gear
I can drive at fifty miles an hoor on motorway or track
With me wife up front beside me and her mother in the back

[…]

In a crowd of fifty trippers you can always pick me oot
By my Don't blame me, I voted Tory sticker on the boot
Wi' my bunch of heather stickin' in ma radiator grille
And me stick-on transfer bullet holes and licence for tae kill

When I read this, somehow it reminds me of the vacations with the family. We were not travelling in a Morris Minor, but we did have stickers at the back of the caravan. And we didn’t go very fast. Granny was missing on those trips though.
