Japanese jazz mixed with the traditional music from that country. Given the language, I can hardly find anything about this record. It was recorded in 1976 by jazz artist Kiyoshi Yamaya, also a name I can hardly find anything about. From the little I can find, he was born in the 30s, had some moderate success in the 50s, playing in several bands. He died in 2002.
I bought this because of what I heard about Japanese records. What is interesting, is that it claims to be recorded using PCM, by Denon. Denon introduced the worlds first PCM recorder in 1967. PCM stands for Pulse Code Modulation, a form of digital recording that is used in most recordings today, including CDs. In that sense the original of this record was a trailblazer. This however is a re-release I picked up at Record Store Day.
