Communicate

An unofficial re-issue of a song from 1983, along with remixes. Hearing it once already made me nervous, let alone four times. That first half of the 80s has hits and misses, and this one certainly is a mis. No amount of beautifully coloured vinyl can help that issue.

I sometimes hear that coloured vinyl is not good for the sound. There might be several reasons for this. The carbon black colouring that is used in standard vinyl is optimised for lower static electricity, and better shaping of the grooves during the pressing. Any other colours use different materials that are usually not as optimal.

Did I ever notice this? Yes, sometimes. I have some records that create less clear sound, with more surface noise. A simple comparison can reveal a lot of these. Records like these are perhaps sensational to look at, but from a audiophile perspective not the best choice.
