I already own this title but I don’t like the quality of the record, as I wrote in 2021 (oh wow, that is almost four years ago!). So I found it at an audio show last year, and I decided to buy it in a Mofi version. I wrote about the releases of Mobile Fidelity in July. Since I am convinced about the change in sound, I though I’d give it a try for the Dire Straits. It paid off. Also, not having to import it from the US myself saves a lot of money, and makes the record actually affordable.
I’ve always thought Dire Straits is a bit poppy rock. And now, as I listen to it, I find out that I might have misplaced it somewhat. Rock is wide category, so sure. But pop? I think it is much too complicated for that. Both in text and in the music there is more meaning than I expected. It makes them quite difficult to classify.
