According to the liner notes on this record, the title suggests this is chamber music. And it is, kind of. Dvořák wrote it originally as a piece for two piano’s, but rewrote it for small orchestra. It is a collection of small suites. Dvořák wrote them in honour of a music critic. The critic liked it, but I have no idea if this led to better reviews. Dvořák the brown noser.
Dvořák is interpreted here by his countryman Rafael Kubelik. From what I can tell it is a good performance. Luckily for my listening experience, I am finding better recordings now, and overall quality is going up. This was another good example of that.
