A re-release of a best of album of a different name, appearing ten years after the death of Otis Spann in 1970. The previous record of Spann I got in my collection, unintentionally. I didn’t know him but when I heard that album more, I was touched. And I still am. This is blues from the heart.
A couple of years before his death this pianist of Muddy Waters’ band decided to venture further on his own, and he made a few really nice albums. In this time he was also working with Eric Clapton and Fleetwood Mac. This album was released by a Dutch label called Black Cat. This was their first release, but they already stopped at number two. I cannot find anything else about them, except the address on the backside of the album: it is in the city of Gouda.
