Want als ik jou ziet, denkt ik jee, jee, jee, jee, jee
Je bent veel mooier als de hele EEG
Dit vind ik enkel aan de Europoort
Je bent een Eurovrouw
Ik doe een Euromoord voor jou
De Euromoord is one of the songs on this compilation album from 1966. It was released originally in 1963, with the EEG just being founded in 1958. I don’t know if this song expresses Fischer’s enthusiasm for the newly formed economical venture or if he is mocking it.
The Europoort (gate to Europe) is the industrial area in Rotterdam between the Maasvlakte in the west and the Botlek in the east. The whole area is mostly used for petrochemical industry and storage, along with the handling of containers.
This song is playing with different accents, both English and from around Rotterdam. Jaap Fischer is from Utrecht, so my guess he is joking around a bit. Rotterdam speaks with a bit of a lilt, as if it is sung. Since the north where I’m from is missing that, we’re sometimes mock it a bit, in jest.
