Early Phil Collins albums are like small testimonies of his personal life. When Genesis took a break in 1981 drummer Phil Collins took the opportunity to start his solo project. This is already his second album, still full of regret for his failed marriage (so the man says himself).
Perhaps the biggest hit on this album is You can’t hurry love, but basically, these are all solid songs. I wrote earlier about Thru these walls, also included here.
Some years before I bought this, I was living in my sister’s apartment, the first time I was living on my own. My sister was sharing the apartment with someone that was really into Phil Collins, listening to it a lot. Listening to it somehow puts me right back to those early days.
