Spanish music from before the baroque. On paper this should be very interesting. The performance however is disappointing. Somehow the ensemble is trying to beat all feeling with an intellectual stick. What is left is void of all emotion.

Cervantes is the writer of Don Quixote, and most of the tracks on this record are referring to that story. The music director Miquel Querol Gavalda taught and studied at the University of Barcelona. This was his chosen subject. Wikipedia only has Spanish and Catalan articles about him, and they both seem to appropriate him to their country.
