Ray Charles celebrated big successes with his two Modern music albums in the sixties. These were mostly country. This album is a retry of that, this time with some friends included. Some good songs with Willie Nelson, Hank Williams, Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash.
The result doesn’t tickle my fancy, alas. It is a bit too bland, too much trying to reach hit potential. Only the last song reached that, moderately. It leaves me with the feeling the old bird wanted to cash in quickly.
Spotify is a bit confused about who’s singing with whom.
