Live at Carnegie Hall

I had no idea I could be touched by an all American voice like this. Shirley Bassey is well known for her loud and impressive voice. In my ears she is not subtle, but loud and every bit the golden star. And then I find out she’s not American but Welsh, and mostly popular in the UK. Eat that, Arjan!

Of course Dame Bassey is best known for her added voice in the Propellerheads song History repeating. Or, if you’re my age, James Bond songs. But there is much more to discover on this beautiful recording from the early seventies. Even the Beatles are represented with their 1969 song Something.

It is strange this recording is not on Spotify. Maybe something with royalties?
