Beautiful songs by a composer that is not particularly known for his songs. They all come from the ten year period after 1878, when Dvořák’s career was just taking off. The lyrics were written by different writers, and as was tradition, these were published as thematic series. I suppose a bit like modern pop albums.
The best known of these works is the fourth song of the gypsy songs: Songs my mother taught me.
A well recorded record, another one that I ignored for way too long.
