Also called the Royal family of the guitar, Los Romeros were founded in 1960 by Celedonio Romero and consisted then of him and his three sons. They exist to this day, with some personnel changes: papa died in 1996 of lung cancer. The young kids grew up in Franco’s Spain, but emigrated to the US in 1957. Each of them started in the family business by the age of seven.
Some nice tunes here, but all in all I was not that impressed. I visited some flamenco performances live in Granada, and I must say they’re better live. And yes, it is a touristy thing to do, but also worth the effort. In 2010 UNESCO declared the flamenco a masterpiece of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity.
