Part 12 of a series published because of the bicentennial of Beethovens birth in 1770. Most material has been recorded earlier, but brought together again for this subscription series. For a box from the Seventies I am amazed with the quality, both in the recording and the performance.
The series of concerts that was planned by the Concertgebouw in 2020 was cancelled by Covid. They had planned guest conductors from all over the world to play the symphonies, but instead we were all sitting home, listening to people playing music from balconies (via YouTube) or in the streets (saw a rules defying brass band in my neighborhood). I would rather have had this.
