Testament to the sad demise of the short lived Frankie goes to Hollywood. Liverpool is the second and last album, and failed to deliver the high expectations. It has one hit, Rage hard, and is a bit rockier than the famous predecessor Welcome to the pleasuredome.
The man who created the sound of the Eighties was the genius behind the band: Trevor Horne. Horne was told by his wife he should stop performing and start producing, because he was better at that. The result is a series of projects where the sound of the decade was defined.
Pretty soon after Welcome to the Pleasuredome was published it came out that most of the music on the album was done by session musicians coordinated by Horne and that the bandmembers themselves didn’t do much. For the next album things would be different. Alas, it didn’t lead to much success.
