Mike Oldfield is perhaps best known for his 1973 album Tubular Bells. I got to know that album because it was part of a hifi test. The title track has a very high pitched melody line over very low beats. For some stereo’s it might be challenging not to let the melody line influence the beats.
To France came out more than ten years later. It was quite popular in the Netherlands, and my parents always went to France, so it spoke to me a bit. The song is about Mary Queen of Scots, locked in the dungeon in London, and dreaming of fleeing to France. She was beheaded in 1587.
