Cyndi Lauper’s solo debut album from 1983. After a botched start with the band Blue Angel in 1978 Lauper was discovered for the second time. This time by a decent producer that treated her talent in the way it was supposed to. The result is an album with no less than six singles and hits, chief among them Girls just want to have fun.
The red dress shown on the cover was bought second hand by Lauper herself. The picture is taken by Annie Leibovitz, the celebrity photographer that also took a famous picture for Rolling Stones magazine of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, four hours before Lennon was shot in New York, December 1980. The cover won a Grammy in 1985.
