The first album of my country’s new superstar on the violin, Isabelle van Keulen. Aged 17, she just finished her high school and was about to start at the Amsterdam Conservatory. She looks like a child here, but she still looks young. She is on the jury of a television show about conducting, so I sometimes see her there.
A well recorded and performed debut, but I must say that I got a bit tired after so much baroque. Isabelle van Keulen must have had the same felling, for after this release she chose her own favorites: contemporary composers and chamber music. Precisely what this was not.
