Brahms / Bruch – Violinkonzerte

Discogs

Arthur Grumiaux was Belgian violinist, born in 1921. Although he started before the war, winning competitions and performing live, his career really took off after the war in 1945. In the meantime he kept a low profile, playing in small local ensembles.

If I can believe his wiki page he was the greatest violinist that ever live. Lets try to keep a level head here: at least on this recording I cannot confirm that. He did make it to the select few that were chosen by Carl Sagan in 1978 to be included in the golden record fixed to the Voyager probe sent out to space. His recording of a Bach partita might be heard in 40.000 years in a star system in the Camelopardalis constellation. I don’t think I’ll be alive by that time, and neither are you. Grumiaux will survive us all.
