British arranger and musician Tom Parker created in 1978 this crossover monstrosity. It is his pop version of the Messiah from Händel. This kind of music is offensive to many lovers of classical music, at least to me. In an interview in 2012, Parker himself said he did not choose the beautiful melodies of Brahms, because they are too short and hence too difficult. He rather chooses Händel, because of his long stretched melodies.
The interview was about Verdi, where he chose to translate the aria La donna è mobile (where Verdi laments the fickleness of women) to I lost my mobile. Funny, but offensive to anyone with more than one braincell. As you might understand, this was another long and hard listen for me.
