Sound the pibroch

Discogs

A pibroch is a genre of Scottish music. Wikipedia has a long article about it, covering all in minute detail. What it doesn’t tell me if these songs are in that genre. The album is called for one song on it. As far as I understand it, the song is a call to musical arms for Prince Charlie during the Jacobite rebellion. The Corries had a lot of these Jacobite songs, Scottish romantics as they were.

This is a rather early album by the Corries, before they did the four classic Live in Scotland albums. Interesting material, but they are live better. It seems the website is in survival mode, with less and less interest in the actual music. There are some CDs still there, and some hand signed LPs. I know, this is old music now.
