If you wait

London Grammar was founded in 2009 and started in 2012 with a YouTube hit. The debut, this record, followed shortly after. The band is a trio, formed around singer Hannah Reid. Two of the members are from London, but the band was founded in Nottingham when they met the third there. Reid’s voice has often been compared with Florence Welch (Florence and the Machine), and they worked with Rollo from Faithless in the early stages. I can hear both influences in the music, and it is probably the reason why I like it so much.

This is not the first release of the band. A few months earlier they released an EP, Metal & Dust, that covers some of the songs that were planned for If you wait. I suppose 2013 was a busy year for London Grammar!
