For forty years Olga Erdeli was Russia’s foremost harpist and soloist of the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Moscow. She was also teaching at the conservatory of that city. She was the niece of Xenia Erdeli, with whom Glière wrote his harp concerto, in 1938. That work is on this record, so I suppose she’s playing a home run here. After a life full of music, she died in 2015, aged 88.
This series reminds me again of the record of Kabalevsky I’ve referred to some time ago. The longer I write these articles, the more they will link to each other.
