Haarlem band De Kift takes the concept of special albums some steps further. Every album is unique, many times created by the fans themselves on special evenings arranged by the band. Bal on vinyl looks totally different from the same album on CD. De LP version comes with these gorgeous drawings made by one of the founders of the band, who also creates these drawing on the fly during the concerts.
I bought this record, and the one I wrote about yesterday at the last concert I saw of them. I bought them, and then was able to get all the signatures, one by one, of the uhm… 8 members of the band? I didn’t know some of them very well, and they were working to get their instruments in a very tiny van in front of the equally small venue, but each of them took their time to have a short talk, and sign both the albums I bought. It is that kind of personal attention that just makes your day, right?
