Morbid Angel’s fourth studio album was not an immediate success with fans. It was slower than its predecessors, in a slightly different style. Its value has since been debated. It came out in 1995, but my edition is from this year, as a special for Record Store Day. It also has a different album cover, just like the cover for the LP when it was released in 1995. I like the cover for the LP better than the CD.

Ever since 1991, albums of the band carry an alphabetically ordered title. The first was Altars of madness, then came Blessed are the sick, followed by Covenant and then this one. And so on. The live album that came out last year can safely be called Live in New Jersey 1989, because guess what, it is the 12th album.
