What can you write when you’re writing about an album the third time (once, twice)? This is the remastered edition of Pink Floyd’s album. I got it as a present from a colleague who got it twice. The remaster was done in 2016 by Bernie Grundman (the audio engineer who also did Prince’s Purple Rain in 1984). It was sourced from a digital copy of the master tape.

This remastering makes the sound a lot better in my view. It has more clarity and detail, which I usually like better. In comparison, the older pressings sound a bit more muffled. Most old time fans will argue that the remaster sounds more clear, but also less warm: it lacks some of the bass and mid range levels that the 1979 original has.

I think if I would have to choose between all three of these pressings, I would go for the remaster.
