Elaine Page did so much better. I knew that already before I listened to this, but this still was horrible to go through. I keep hearing the fake voice of Barburah from the early episode of South Park. In my mind Tyrannosaurus Streisand trampled all over my record player.
The record was produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber btw, in the same year as the musical Cats came out. The song is an adapted version of a poem by T.S. Eliott called Rhapsody on a windy night, part of Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats from 1939.
Grizabella the glamour cat has fallen on hard times and is singing about her glory days. She is now practically an outcast in the community, but she used to be so beautiful, adored by everyone.
