Don’t pay the ferryman (live)

A short repetitive song giving advice to anyone travelling by boat in a storm: do not pay the ferryman until you are at the other side. Whatever he demands. More probable, this is an allusion to Charon, getting the souls of the dead over the river Styx to the underworld. Or so the ancient Greeks believed. No, the ancient Greeks didn’t know about Chris De Burgh. Aargh.

And there he is again! Anthony Head, my favourite actor from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He is speaking some lines from Shakespeare in the bridge of the song. It is missing in the single version, which is shortened by twenty seconds That is twenty seconds of Anthony Head! Also this live version doesn’t have it.

For this little experiment I had to listen to the song three times. I did pay the ferryman now.
