Battlestar Galactica (Original Soundtrack)

Battlestar Galactica was a sci fi series first broadcast in 1978. It was created by Glen A Larson, but ended prematurely because of high production cost and a crippling court case that claimed it was copying Star Wars. So it ended in its second season. Decades after it was tried again, in a totally new production. This time it was possible: budgets had risen, technology made it easier to make it believable.

The story, in short, is about the survivors from twelve human colonies in a far away corner of space, looking for a new home on the thirteenth colony: Earth. On the way they are hunted by a robotic enemy: the Cylons. There are a lot of religious elements in this story, and it is clear where they are coming from: Larson was a known member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he was a Mormon.

This record is from the original series, and it is surprisingly good. I bought it as a curiosity in a Japanese record store. I’ll tell more about that shop in the next few articles.
