Raymond Leppard had a big influence on the historical performance in England. He was mostly active in the Anglo Saxon world, leading orchestras on both sides of the ocean. I don’t have that much from him, I think because the records were not sold that much here. I didn’t see them that much.
Monteverdi was the Maestro di capella in Mantua in 1592, when he published this third book of madrigals. Madrigals are renaissance secular songs. Think of this as a Schubert collection, but then from 250 years earlier.
