A collection of pieces that somehow revolve around the concept of time, even though it was not meant as a concept album. The album came out in 1986, after touring 187 concerts in almost a year for the so called World slavery tour for the previous album Powerslave.
The slightly weaker material might have been the result of the gruelling schedule. Personally I like Alexander the Great, but that might be my (oh I hate myself sometimes) prog loving side.
You have to admire the cover though: it is packed with all kind of reference to previous albums, but also to literature and pop culture. It took regular cover artist Derek Riggs three months to paint it, and he never wanted to do that much detail again.
