Supertramp’s sixth studio album contains some well known songs. The album was originally planned as a conversation between the main members of the band Rick Davies and Roger Hodgson. But all kind of fun songs were coming out, and they decided to give it a more fun title and stick with it.
Fans later thought it is a concept album, a satire on America. Some songs (Gone Hollywood, Breakfast in America, Child of vision) seem to point in that direction. Of course the beautiful cover art gives the same impression. This was not intentional though: this is not a concept album.
I think I bought this album because I knew Crime of the century. I didn’t like it nearly as much though. Sure, it was fun, it had some nice songs, but I really am not into pop music that much. So this ended my short love affair with Supertramp.
