Jean-Michel Jarre’s fourth studio album was the electronic equivalent of a garage recording. He created the album in his own apartment in Paris. The parts represent parts of the day in the life of a single person. I’ve always thought of the figures on the cover as an audience, ogling the stage with curious eyes, or maybe binoculars. It is part of a painting by French artist Michel Granger called Le trac (Stage Fright).

Somehow the wiki page for this album shows minute details of the equipment that was used. I’ve noticed that before: these early synthesizer albums really attract a peculiar nerdy audience that is interested in this kind of thing. You usually don’t see that with rock bands.
