Yesterday I finished with what I have in my database. Some years ago, before starting this project, I lost data by not backing it up, and then I though I was adding new records at the right location, but I wasn’t. The result is a mess, and that mess starts today. From this point onwards, the records I write about are not administrated at all, though most of them do have some data written on the sleeves. So for most of them I know where they were coming from, what I paid and when I got them.
When my friend got rid of her record collection, and chose me as the beneficiary of the clear out, I got a huge collection of beautiful records. I mentioned it to her some time ago, and she told me that if I would get rid of any of them, I should give some of them back. In her eyes there was that typical expression any serious record collector recognises. Her pleading didn’t come out of nothing, she did have a nice collection.
This record was also part of it, and it is among the few I kept of the punk records she also gave me. The rest I gave away to a mutual friend that appreciates this music more than I do. The Exploited are a Punk band from Edinburgh, Scotland. This is their second album, from 1982. Their punk style was a reaction to more intellectual punk culture, and fits the name of the band (a brand of UK punk that goes by the inspiring term Oi!).
