Absurd humour coming from Brigitte Kaandorp, a comedian from the neighbouring city of Haarlem. This is her first record from 1986, but given the title I think it contains material from her earliest show in 1982. Kaandorp was still studying Dutch at the University of Amsterdam while she was also performing.
What like about Kaandorp is her delivery. She is funny because her intonation resembles a certain helplessness. It is as if she were saying: this is just the way it is, I cannot help it. And something else: I like that she isn’t preaching. They say (well, we say) my country is a country of traders and preachers. As a result, many comedians here are trading their art by preaching. Even if I agree, it is a bit tiresome to hear how (not) to behave. Not so much with Kaandorp.
