Some months ago I was visiting the music complex of the Omroepen in Hilversum. The building was built there as an extension of an existing villa at the highest point in the city, to house the radio studios of one of the oldest broadcasters: VARA. That was in 1929, and since then the building has been growing. It no longer houses radio studios, but instead forms the home base of several orchestras and the choir of the Omroepen.
During my visits I was shown that old radio studio. They have meticulously restored it to its 20s glory, including the built in organ. On the way there they were proudly showing pictures of famous artists that once played there. Among those there was a picture of the Oscar Peterson Trio, visiting and playing in that very studio! It was not this recording, of course.
I wrote already about this record, almost two years ago.
