A very influential punk rock album, produced by John – Velvet Underground – Cale. This is the debut album of Patti Smith, what we nowadays would call a singer songwriter from New York. She later said that with the album she wanted to speak to the people that were different, to make them feel not alone. The album is a bit of a mix between poetry and music. Patti Smith was also called the Punk poet laureate.
I think I bought this record to have a bit more punk music on my collection. I didn’t listen to it that much. The advantage of that now is that it sounds very fresh. Even though the surface quality is not that good, so there is a lot of cracks and pops. And I did clean it many times, so I’m afraid this one is damaged beyong repair.
