The breakthrough album of the French piano sisters Katia and Marielle Labèque. The Labèque sisters started with their first recording in 1969, and are still recording. The repertoire went from contemporary and late romantics to more cross over kind of projects. Always in the best quality recordings. I have seen them years ago, and they did make an impression.
What I didn’t know was that from 1998 they also played baroque, and because of that commissioned two fortepianos. They live in a house in Rome that used to belong to the Borgia family. They can afford it, I suppose. Also, they live there together, one with husband and the other with a boyfriend. These pianoduo’s sure are a weird bunch!
