Studio albums of The Corries are usually not an interesting affair. A bit too polished, it feels a bit stiff. They sounded a lot better when they were doing the live albums in the Live from Scotland series. They created this studio album after the end of that four part series. When I listen to albums like this, I hear a lot I don’t recognise, so in performance or recording it might not be that interesting but musically it is much better. So I did enjoy listening to this.
I ordered this from The Corries website that is to this day being run by Gavin, the son of Ronnie Browne. I mentioned him on the first record I bought there, and that one also had a picture of Ronnie signing the record as an original from his own collection. This is another one of that stash. I checked, the ones that have that certificate now are really expensive.
