This curiosity is a small collection of 7 inch records that was a part of an encyclopedia about sacred music. Included is a small booklet with short explanations about the tracks. The total set consists of 8 records, each with a small number of examples of the subjects, sacred music from all over the world. So there is a record with Jewish religious songs, one with Gregorian chant, Orthodox songs, and so on to songs from Southeast Asia or Africa.
All of these are interesting, but of very differing quality. What annoys me the most about them is the missing credits. Even the little booklet, full of helpful information as it is, doesn’t mention any of the performers. It is almost as if it is done by studio musicians like it was in the 60s and 70s. I couldn’t find a date on it, so who knows, maybe it is from that era.
