Wild God is Nick Cave’s 18th album, and the first since 2016 with his band the Bad Seeds. Nick cave lost his son Arthur in 2015 because of an LSD related accident: he fell from a cliff in Brighton, England. Cave’s next studio album Ghosteen shows his grief, it is a bitter and difficult album to listen to. Wild God is not, it is more cheerful. The originally planned title was Joy.
I almost have the feeling Nick Cave is transcending his grief. Something even more miraculous given that he lost a second son in 2022. Things are not easy for the high priest of goth. Yet, from what I read he changed his act at live performances. From that bigger-than-life high priest he invites his audience on stage, to make a more personal connection. Nick is loving people!
