Relaxin’ with the Miles Davis Quintet

Discogs

Cookin’, Relaxin’, Workin’ and Steamin’ is the output of the Miles Davis Quintet between 1957 and 1961. All studio albums, and all cut from two recording sessions in Van Gelder’s Hackensack studio in 1956. The collected four are considered to be the best hard bop has to offer, and show off the combined skills of Miles Davis and John Coltrane.

I suspect that I’m a little bit of a completist. That goes even so far that I’m sometimes buying things that I don’t need, just to complete the set. I don’t recommend it, and in many cases it leads to an overload of stuff. In this case however, the set is worth it. I’m actually looking forward to complete it, as I have now three of the four parts. My completist self is indulged, and so is my musical taste.
